Monks complaining about beef in a tin?  I don't think so.  In India, a Hindu country, perhaps, but not here.

Lots of Thais won't eat beef for the same reasons as Hindu's and they are Buddhist . Our maid for one will not eat beef. I guess she doesn't want to eat her dead husband.  :o
Do Buddhist in Thailand eat beef?
Update:
Buddha did not forbid eating meat and he died from eating bad pork. Buddha said "Do not eat meat knowing that it has been killed specially for (your) use; I allow the use of fish and meat blameless in three ways, unseen, unheard and unsuspected"

Draught animals, such as cows and buffalos, are likened to the parents of human beings. Because they give service to mankind, they resemble manís mother and father. In fact they are manís parents, brothers, sons and daughters. The Buddha declares them to be manís own relatives.

I was in Bangkok Bank yesterday at 08-30 as it opened.........An elderly monk walked in went straight to the next teller to me and calmly deposited 100,000 baht.......one has to ask who are the idiots!!

And why do monks need top-of-the-range mobile phones?  A direct line to circumvent praying?

No one "needs" a mobile phone.  I reckon monks have and use them for the same reasons as everyone else.

Nookie,

I cooked your Rack of Ribs today.  They were awesome.  The entire family (plus) were waiting and hoping for some left overs.  Not a chance!!!  Really meaty and REAL ribs, unlike Pizza Company. The McCorrmick Chilli, Peppers and BBQ sauce was the right choice. Ten out of ten buddy. Now a regular order!!!
