New to Khon Kaen
« on: August 31, 2015, 12:11:25 PM »
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen

My name is Nigel and I have just registered here. I (with my partner) have only been in Khon Kaen for about 10 days and just got connected to the internet this morning.

We are currently in temporary accommodation as we looking to Buy or Rent a unit that will seat around 20 people, have a large kitchen area and accommodation above.

We are planning on opening a UK style Fish and Chip shop and need the unit to be in a central location. It is so frustrating at the moment as we have already sourced (and sampled) UK "chippy" fish, for example, Norwegian Cod, Skate, Rock Eel etc. as well as Pies, Chops and GREAT chipping potatoes.

If any of you know of what might be a suitable venue please let me know.

I will keep you up to date with progress.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Real,

Welcome!

I am not sure what it is you are describing as "frustrating."  You mean it is frustrating trying to find the right property?

Lassie posted something recently about "MyBar" being for sale.  Don't  know if that is in any way close to what you had in mind.  Have a looksee.

There was an Indian restaurant (Mr. Khan) at the Pimanchon 2 Fitness Center that unfortunately  cry2 closed recently.  I don't know if that would be available, but it's a nice spot and worth exploring.  Other than that "central" is a fairly limited concept in Khon Kaen.  Start at the area around the Pullman Hotel and Tuckcom.  Have a looksee at the few little stressts in the area where there are some well-known falang bars and restaurants and see if you see something suitable.  If I remember right, I think I recall seeing some places shut (so maybe for rent) at on the soi with DiDines.

Good luck!

What about Rocky's Bar and Restaurant?  I am not sure if it is still closed (been about a year.)  It is on the side soi next to the Pullman hotel.

The unit that was formerly Rocky's has been refitted to a massage shop as far as I know.
Is my identity my own?
Why does anybody feel the need to f**k with it??

Hi, I can't find my last account in the old version of this forum. I'm italian, I used to stay Isaan during the holidays with my wife, she's from there. I apologies for my very bad english. :)

Hi Nigel

Welcome (not sure if that is appropriate as I am drifter- haha).

But in any case, I will be in KK at the end of January, and since I live in Japan, I would really enjoy some good fish and chips! So please post once you get up and running (hopefully before end of JANUARY!!!)

in any case (again), good luck!

Peter

EDIT (wine affects spelling)
Cheers

Peter
