Location: Affected areas in Thailand including:

    Samut Sakhon

Event: Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health continues to report a rise in new cases of locally-transmitted Covid-19, most of which are related to the outbreak at a seafood market at Samut Sakhon and a smaller cluster associated with a social gathering in Rayong.  On December 27, 121 new cases were reported, of which 94 were locally-transmitted.   

U.S. citizens traveling over the holidays should monitor the news to stay abreast of the latest reports on Covid-19 cases and any changes to provincial transportation and business operating status that could impact their travel plans.

The Thai Ministry of Public Health’s Department of Disease Control posts daily Covid-19 case updates in English at   News on COVID-19 mitigation measures in various provinces in English may be found at the Government of Thailand’s Public Relation Department homepage at

The Facebook Page of Thailand’s Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).  CCSA currently conducts a live daily Thai-language briefing at 11:30 am, which can be accessed on this FB page.  It is followed immediately by an English language briefing conducted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Deputy Spokesperson Natapanu Nopakun. - The Department of Disease Control homepage provides a daily situation report in English with detailed statistics, including an interactive map with data on each province.

Actions to Take:

·  Monitor local media and our Embassy website for updates;

·  Check your email regularly for further alerts;

·  Use alternate routes if traveling between provinces around Samut Sakhon;

·  Continue COVID-19 precautions, including mask use and social distancing. 

·  Consult the CDC website for the most up-to-date information.
