We drove by the other day and I noticed that Smile is not only closed, but GONE!  i think I read on that other Khon Kaen forum that they have a new location, but I don't recall where.  I think they were overly-optimistic.  You can't have a gigantic restaurant and no customers.  A big empty restaurant drives away potential customers.

When my dad had an over-sized art gallery in Honolulu, he insisted that the staff walk around, look a the paintings, talk to each other so that the place didn't look dead.

Actually, I just happened to pass by something called "Smile Cafe" on my bicycle ride the other day, on Klang Muang, on the left side of the road, heading away from town, just before you get to KTV.  Don't know if it is the same Smile or not, but much more modest than the earlier effort.  Too bad to see the original go to rot, something useful might have been done with the property.
