Bowling Lanes in Udorn to Close 1 January
« on: November 07, 2018, 10:38:29 AM »

Udorn's Central Plaza' Major Bowl announced that effective 1 January, it will be closing the alleys for good.  Unless someone knows of another place in the Northeast, other than Ubon Ratchatani, bowling is no more.  Khon Kaen and Nakhon Ratchasima closed quite a while ago.

One time, about 100 years ago, I went bowling at Tuckom.  http://www.bowlingthai.co.th/portfolios/sf-strike-bowl-khonkaen-14-lanes/.

Times change, I guess. But how could they let a sport die where you can drink beer and eat pizza while exercising???

My wife and I went to Udorn for New Year's Eve.  Of course, we went bowling since we had assumed they would be closing the next day.  Well, they have been given a reprieve of about 2 months.  The staff expects to be open for at least into March.  so if you are a bower, you have a couple of months to support that itch!

When we were there, they did not have any specials going on the 31st and also did not have any on the 1st.  The manager did work a deal since we were good customers, and provided us with 5-6  two for one coupons, which effectively dropped the price to 70 baht per game.

I wonder if the decline and fall of bowling is limited to Thailand or an international phenomenon? You would think that a sport where you can eat, drink beer and sit on your butt would be evergreen in Thailand! roll
