US Social Security Changes in 2019
« on: October 27, 2018, 05:14:19 PM »
AARP identified 6 changes but the only one that would seem important to us retirees is:

Quote
Benefits increase

Social Security recipients will get a 2.8 percent  (COLA) in monthly benefits beginning in January. The average individual retired Social Security beneficiary is expected to see a monthly benefit jump from $1,422 to $1,461. The estimated monthly increase is $39, or $468 a year.

Don't hold your breath kowpot.  We'll have to wait and see what the 2019 medical insurance premiums are going to be to eat up some of the increase.  You may have to settle for a BMW!!  555

I'd wish Congress would give us retirees a bigger break on the amount that is taxable.  I have always been having to pay taxes on 85% of the social security benefits!  If it went down to 50%, I would forgo the COLA increase!
