Open discussion / Re: Just checking

 Thanks,

I'm so careful about what I open, I wouldn't open a birthday greeting from my cousin on my birthday. Something just didn't look right.

I just got an email. Said it's from Mocrosoft and Titled, "Updating our terms of use".

I'm really careful what I open. Anyone got this or know if it's safe?

My daughter used to send my credit cards by fed-ex. Just over $100 for one card!

The mail has been more reliable lately as Rex mentioned, so now she sends the cards regular mail inside a greeting card. So far got them all.

 Thanks Rex,

I need to send documents to the social security office in Manila.  They say to send by Fed-ex, DHL, or UPS.

Google says there is a DHL office here, but the reviews are not as good as for Fed-ex. I have received parcels from Fed-ex, and always good service. (expensive, $110 for a credit card.)

This is for my wife's social security so, money is no object.

Anyone know if there is a fed-ex office in KK?

Google says there is one, but their facebook page says, "no location available".

Open discussion / New train station
« on: March 29, 2019, 02:02:45 PM »

I stopped in to check out the new train station last week. It looks very nice, clean and looks VERY expensive. I guess it will do everything you want a train station to do. But, I noticed right away, I missed the old station. The old station was worn and dirty, but it had character.

Maybe this station is better and I'm just an old man thinking about "The good old days" and wishing I could relive my youth. Anyway, good luck to the new station.

 Thanks for the replies,

My daughter talked with her cousin who is a notary in the US. She said we could sign the document during a video chat, then send the form to her and she would affix her notary stamp. I called my bank, explained the situation, and they said they would accept it.

Sounds like a good deal. The form is from our joint account and needs both our signatures and needs a notary seal for each. The US embassy charges $50 per seal. It's one document, but I'm sure they would charge for 2 seals.

I need to get a document notarized for my US bank. I think there was some talk awhile back on this forum about notary public. Is there a notary here in KK? My wife and I must both sign and I think a trip to Bangkok is out of the question.

Also, how does one go about getting a new passport without the outreach? I know you can always go the the embassy in BKK. Is it possible to get a passport by mail?

I went into town last week and as charlie59 said, printers are quite cheap.

I was under the impression they were separate machines, but I see they are 3-in-1, printer/scanner/copy, and some have fax also. Prices were from 2,000 bt up!

Rumor on Thaivisa is they may be doing away with the outreach visits because most of what they do is the visa income letters. I couldn't find any info about it, but they normally would be around about now.

 Thanks for the replies.

I dont know about memory sticks or other technical stuff. I'm looking for a place like I used to go, where I can use their computer and they can print out documents that I've received in an email.

Now and then I need to print out something. The internet shop I used to use has closed. Anyone know a shop in KK with a printer, and possibly a scanner?

I usually go about a month after my license expires and I'm good for 6 years. I've heard you have 1 year after expiation to renew.
