Personally, I'm just using a VPN (virtual private network) to make it look like I'm in the USA.  It has worked great for me over the past 18 months I've been here.

Tibbetts Coffee House

It's back in a neighborhood.  So it's a little unexpected to find it there.  But a lot of KKU students and professors go there.  I'm always quite surprised to see how well they do given the unusual location.  I wouldn't say it's ever crowded.  But there's always a couple of customers there when my family and I visit.

Today, I drove to Plan Thong Waterfall in Phu Pha Man National Park.  I was really hoping to get some good waterfall pictures.  But to no avail.  The waterfall was still dry.  Everyone keeps telling me this is a very strange rainy season.  I guess we still need more rain in the region before the waterfalls become active again.

Since I struck out at the waterfall, I tried to continue another 8km to one of the caves.  But it was a dirt road through some farms.  I made it about 5 km before I came to a wadi crossing.  It too was dry, but it was too deep for my sedan to traverse it.  At the minimum, it would have ripped off my mufflers.  Probably my front air damn too.  At that point, I gave up, took some pictures of the fields and mountains, then came home early.  My dog was quite disappointed he didn't get any good hiking today.

Aloha everyone!

My name is Matthew and my family and I have been living in Khon Kaen for about 9 months now.

I'm a ham radio operated and finally (after 8 months of waiting) got my Thai callsign, HS0ZMJ.  I'm also a Freemason, a member of Honolulu Lodge F&AM.

I'm an amateur photographer.  This weekend, I'm venturing into video in an effort to give family a virtual driving tour of Khon Kaen.  Any places you think I should drive by with the camera rolling?

I hope this weekend is treating everyone well.
