Visas, et al / Re: Thai immigration launches newly updated website
« on: July 18, 2020, 07:28:03 PM »
Since last Wednesday (Jul 15) I have visited the online services part of the new site daily in order to submit my 90 day report, which I have done successfully before.  Now when you click on  90 day report reporting  in informs me that the site is under construction and to check back the next day.  Daily, it just informs to check back the next date.  I really hope they get this up and running soon.

Have been using TransferWise for about 8 months now.  In my case it has always taken about 3 days from my small hometown bank in the USA.  No problem,, but have often wondered why others get their money within hours if not minutes.

Yes.  The instructions are found on the U.S. Embassy Bangkok web site under Citizen Services.  They advertise 3-4 weeks, but received mine in about a week.

Terry:  I did the entire new passport via mail last year.  Unless you're looking forward to a road trip you may want to try that route.

To resume Outreach visit would be a good thing in view of the ageing population of the U. S. Citizens here in Thailand.  Trips to Bangkok for any Embassy matter are quite difficult.  Also the Income Verification letter should be visited.  Could be easily provided should the citizen provide proof of income.  The name of the game is diplomacy.

Just for the record the policeman that visited me did not say he was sent by the American Embassy, but said he was doing so on behalf of Thai Immigration.  That might be why the American Embassy has no idea as to these visits.  Have there been any further visits other that the few mention in this thread?

They took my photo as well with the officer and the address plate on my gate.  They showed me a A4 size paper full of names, but only 5 names were highlighted in yellow which were all in my area.  Interesting that they check on some but not others.

Visas, et al / Police Security Check
« on: January 08, 2020, 07:32:37 AM »

Yesterday I was visited by the Ban Phai Police at the request of Thai Immigration.  The purpose of the visit was to check into the well being of Americans living in Ban Phai and providing information to be aware of our surroundings in view of the American/Iran situation.  Must be some real concern on some ones part if they are checking in person.  There were four others on his list that he could not locate and wanted to know if I knew them.  I did not.

An hour later I received a security alert via e-mail from the embassy in Bangkok regarding the same matter.

I find in funny that Trump is on TV telling the world his actions made me safer, but then his State Department is letting me to be vigilant.

Has anyone else received such a visit?

Visas, et al / Re: Renewal of Retirement extension / 90 day Report
« on: November 08, 2019, 03:32:14 PM »
Just attempted the online 90 day reporting.  After I completed the forum and entering submit I got a message that said "contact the immigration branch office in our residence area".

Just received a notice from the U. S. State Department (American Embassy-Bangkok) regarding this matter.  It goes into effect on October 31, 2019 and pertains to those with O-A and O-X visas.  If also provides a download for an Overseas Insurance Certificate Form.  If you have insurance with other that a Thai Co. you may provide this  signed form, completed by your insurance company as proof of insurance.

I'm not sure what type of visa I have.  When I got my new passport in Jun 2017 and they converted stamps over to my new passport they recorded that I changed from a Non B to a Non O in December 2003, but they also stamped that on 17 March 2016 that my visa was a Non-RE.  Is there such a thing as a Non-RE?

Visas, et al / Re: Thailand bank letter confirming international deposits.
« on: September 04, 2019, 03:35:06 PM »
Just received my monthly transfer of funds by Transferwise into Bangkok Bank and this months transfer shows as an International Transfer.  I did not phone them and request any thing special.  However, I did note that then I was setting up this months transfer that they had added a new option regarding the reason why I was requesting the transfer.  Before I always stated the reason was for monthly expenses, but they now offer the answer to meet immigration requirement.  Maybe they have been listening to us after all.  It was the last option on the list of reasons for the transfer.

Made my annual renewal today based on retirement using the monthly deposit amount of 65,000 baht or more.  Took over an hour to get approval.  First they didnít like the fact that in October last year two deposits were made, but not one in November (transfer arrived early).  Then they questioned the last two deposits from TransferWise that are listed as being received via SMART and wanted to know what that was. They also didnít like that I use a bank printout of transactions in stead showing my bank book which I couldnít use as I neglected to updated it often so many transactions didnít show.  Finally the boss in the back mulled it over for 30 minutes or so, she then asked if I had a copy of the Embassy Income Letter from last year which I luckily had.  After more looking and figuring I finally received my one year extension.  No mention of the infamous TM30.  This was my 20th renewal. Had documents read for extension based on marriage so could have done that if necessary. Will go the 800,000 baht route next year.  Good luck to all of you with extension in the near future.

Iím afraid Iíll have the same problem.  In October last year I received a transfer on the 1st and 31st, but nothing in November.  I was set up for automatic transfer with my bank back in the US for transfer on the last working day of the month.  Made it here on the same date for some reason.  I will know for sure Thursday when I go on for my extension.  Will let yíall know how it goes. Iíve been here for 20 years so really hope that I am not sent out of the country.  Worried.
