Open discussion / Re: Hidden Processing Fees - Thai AirAsia
« on: June 18, 2019, 04:20:57 PM »
We traveled to the Philippines last month and took Air Asia to BKK.  Paid for it by credit card. Didn't see anything about 80 baht fee.
Could it be the processing fee? That seems rather high, since I am doing all the work myself online.
The meal and the insurance I could have done without.

Go to one of the frame shops. They know most of the reputable photographers.

Frank,
That's all well and good. But, my sister lives in a different state than I. Would probably look funny to the DMV, having my drivers license sent from Texas to New Hampshire.

I don't know anyone that is coming over here.  So  that is not an option.

So I guess I am just stuck paying the higher cost. The good thing though. I use a mail forwarding service for most of my mail, so I can see what it is before deciding that I need it. Most of it, I can just scan and print if need be.   Que Sera, Sera

One would think for that kind of money, I could get my mail sent to Thailand from the USA a little faster.
They are sending me my new Texas drivers license. Cost more to send it here than it cost to renew my license.
This was sent using the United States Postal Service. What would Fedex have cost?
Plus just look at the route this thing is taking.

I have to agree with Rex. I use my two accounts the same way. Bangkok Bank is reserved only for immigration purposes while Krung Thai Bank is used for my everyday expenses.

Barclay,
What part of Texas are you from? I am from the Ft. Worth area.

You would think that it would be news somewhere in the U.S. that "Big Joke" has come there.
But, I have found nothing about the fired Thai immigration chief arriving in the U.S.  A Lt. General getting fired from his post and going to the Unites States has to be news in some U.S. newspaper, wouldn't you think?

I wonder if he really went there. Or is he in a canal somewhere in Thailand?

I would rather be able to do the TM-30 online more than the 90 day report.

12
It makes absolutely no sense that an individual on a Non-O visa or extention should need to report themselves every time he or she takes a short trip especially in country.
A person on a tourist visa for let's say, 60 days. Can come and go as they please. Go anywhere in the country at their leisure and are not required to report to anyone. Yes, I understand that if they stay in a hotel it is the hotels responsibility to report and file a TM-30 on their behalf. But, the tourist doesn't care one way or another. Why? Because he won't be fined no matter how it comes out.
I think immigration has got this backwards. First of all, the long stayer is constantly reconfirming their address throughout the year. They are in my opinion the least likely to be considered terrorist or any threat to Thailand.
On the other hand. If one was a criminal or prone to criminal acts, wouldn't they just come on a short stay visa, if any visa at all?

13
How many people notify their landlord or house owner that they have gone somewhere for a couple of days? I know I never have. Never thought it was any of their business.

14
They should also accept TM-18 Residence Certificate for Thailand

It would be much easier if you had a yellow book.

15
You still need to notify Sakon Nakhon immigration of your move to Kalasin if you haven't done so already. You will need to submit a TM28 and a new TM30 if they require it. The the notification of the move should have been done within 24hrs. But, since immigration doesn't really know when you moved. You can just tell them that you moved yesterday.
While you are there. You can request a certificate of residency from them. They are suppose to be free, but don't be surprised if they quote you 500 Bt. Still cheaper than going to Bangkok.

The form for residency certificate is the TM 18.
