« on: August 06, 2018, 03:49:02 PM »
Today the wife and I went for a drive up the highway towards Udon Thani to get some nutrients for the hydroponics. There used to be a place on the right hand side heading north that used to make hydroponic systems and from memory it was not far out of Khon Kaen but we drove as far as Non Sa-at but could not find the place. Does anybody remember the place and does anybody know where there is a hydroponics supplies in or around the Khon Kaen area. Thanks for any help

Discuss Shopping / folding recliner chair
« on: July 07, 2018, 10:14:27 AM »
Big C has a folding recliner chair on sale and it has been reduced down from 259฿ to 179฿. DO NOT BUY THEM, THEY ARE DANGEROUS. I bought one yesterday morning and I used it yesterday afternoon and the main support bent and collapsed in the reclined position with the result of me hitting the back of my head on the tile floor fairly hard. I have pictures but unfortunately they are 235KB and I can only upload 128KB per photo. Rex, if you could tell me how I can upload these pictures I will do so that everyone will be able to see what ones I am talking about.

Open discussion / Banks in Khon Kaen
« on: May 27, 2018, 06:16:40 PM »
I received an email supposedly from my bank in Australia saying that my mastercard has been frozen and for me to click on a link but I immediately contacted my bank by phone in case it was a scam or was phishing. My mastercard which is a debt card has been skimmed at an ATM here in Thailand but they did not get the pin number but they tried to do a 5000baht purchase with the card and my bank stopped until they contacted me. My problem now is that a new card will be sent from Australia but it will take between 7 to 10 working days, so I am going to look at opening a new bank account here in Khon Kaen and transfer money from Australia via TransferWise. I know that many things have change with the banks here over the last couple of years. What I am looking for is a bank that will open an account with a foreigner and supply a debt card for use in an ATM. I know that the Bangkok Bank is using some new type of card that appears to have problems. Can some one please recommend a bank for me.Much appreciated

Open discussion / Songkeaw
« on: May 01, 2018, 08:47:35 AM »
Now that the bus station 3 is in full operation does anyone know if there is a songkeaw service from Milawan Road area along the western side ring road to the bus station. I can catch a number 9 from Uea Athon into the post office then get another one from there to the bus station but I would be looking at around 1 hour travel that way when I live close to the western ring road between Milawan Road and the bus station
There are no new maps of the songkeaw services yet.
Thanks for the help

Where to find . . . / Dry Ice
« on: February 25, 2018, 10:09:04 PM »
I have strolled through all the sections here just in case it had been asked before.
I have been told that there is a place that sells blocks of dry ice and that they are located around the Lao Nadi Rd area but no one has been able to give me the location or the name of the company.
Now I have been told by someone that someone told him it was near Makro, and another has now said it is near the old bus station.
Does anybody know where this place is.
All help much appreciated.

Open discussion / challenge
« on: February 01, 2018, 03:04:08 PM »
Ok, gentlemen and others, there seem to be some reasonably intelligent people on here so I am throwing you a challenge, it is a simple maths question.
I am running a dog show and there are 49 dogs signed up to compete in the dog show.

There are 36 more small dogs than large dogs signed up to compete.

How many small dogs are signed up to compete?

Humor - Heard any good jokes lately? / Headache

It’s a beautiful warm spring day and a man and his wife are at the zoo. She’s wearing a cute, loose-fitting, pink spring dress, sleeveless with straps.
As they walk through the ape exhibit and pass in front of a very large gorilla, the gorilla goes ape. He jumps up on the bars, holding on with one hand (and 2 feet), grunting and pounding his chest with the free hand. He is obviously excited at the pretty lady in the wavy dress.
The husband, noticing the excitement, suggests that his wife tease the poor fellow. The husband suggests she pucker her lips, wiggle her bottom, and play along.
She does and Mr. Gorilla gets even more excited, making noises that would wake the dead. Then the husband suggests that she let one of her straps fall, she does, and Mr. Gorilla is just about to tear the bars down.
“Now try lifting your dress up your thighs” … this drives the gorilla absolutely crazy.
Then, quickly the husband grabs his wife by the hair, rips open the door to the cage, slings her in with the gorilla and says, “Now, tell HIM you have a headache.”

New Member Introductions / another over-educated Aussie
« on: January 23, 2018, 09:27:00 AM »
Hi, all, my name is Russell and I am from Sydney, Newcastle and Melbourne, Australia. I am 73 years of age and I decided to retire after an injury at work at the age of 68. I spent 9 years in the Royal Australian Navy with 2x6 month stints in Vietnam. After the navy I married and moved from Sydney to a small country area called Summerland Point which is located on the southern shores of Lake Macquarie. I joined the local volunteer bush fire brigade and spent 18 years as a member, I also joined the Central Coast Volunteer Rescue Squad and spent 17 years as a member in that. My work after the navy was in the transport industry as a truck driver and a long distance bus and tour coach driver. The biggest problem was that I spent too much time away from my family trying to earn money to buy the materialistic things in life and the wife and I grew apart so we divorced and I moved to Melbourne and remained in the transport industry. I never re-married and I became lonely so I started dating again and I got sick of the farang woman attitude of wanting to move in straight away, so I was on the internet and an add popped up for Thai Love Links and now I am happily married to a beautiful Thai woman and we are living in Khon Kaen. I enjoy cooking and I make my own Golden Syrup, pickles, cakes, ice cream, and I am about to try making one of my favourites "Ginger Marmalade".
Happy to meet everyone on here
