Open discussion / Re: Bangkok Bank Debit Cards With Visa Logo
« on: August 18, 2018, 10:48:51 AM »
I myself have given up on the idea that BKK bank will revert back to Visa cards. I only use BKK bank to transfer money from the states to Thailand. I then transfer it to my account with Krungthai bank. Totally worth the 35 baht. Krungthai uses Visa. I asked if they were considering changing to Union cards. They laughed and said, no. They were getting too many customers from BKK bank to do that.

It is my understanding that Khon Kaen immigration does not participate in Online Reporting. I could be wrong, but it has never worked for me.

So I am of the mind that they don't participate.

Open discussion / Re: Where to buy RING DOORBELL. in Khon Kaen?

Remember, this doorbell is only as good as your WiFi signal. If you put it out by the end of of your driveway at the gate. It may not work.

If you didn't expect an answer, then why ask the question?

I don't like ice in my beer.

Comparing Khon Kaen to TJ is totally rediculous. TJ is a border town. It is crime ladened. There is basically no public service.
Khon Kaen on the other hand as you say is a growing city. The majority of the people are young and have no respect for the city.
As a growing community shouldn't those in charge be trying to attract the best Thailand has to offer? Right now the attitude of the people is, someone else will clean up after me. Not exactly the best.

The breakfast is buffet.
A lot of food. It's actually a good selection. But, can you eat 500 baht worth each?

I wonder how many had pay to the order of  "American Embassy Bangkok". With the quotation marks on it?

That's the way they put it on their website.

I agree with your assessment, so I have removed my replies to this post. It was never my intention to cause disharmony on this forum. My first reply was intended to be on the comical side. Never did I suspect it would hit such a nerve with the new member. Maybe they are coming over from TVF. I don't know. It is for this reason I stay away from that forum.
I apologise if I have offended or upset anyone.

Will a pool table even fit in that place?

Just so everyone is clear on the date.
The Outreach is on June 20th not June 22nd.

Dear American Citizens,
The American Citizen Services sections of Embassy Bangkok and Consulate General Chiang Mai are pleased to inform you of our upcoming Consular Outreach events at the below locations and on the following dates:SCHEDULEKHON KAEN: June 20, 2018
  • PHUKET: July 5, 2018
  • UDON THANI: November 2018
  • PHUKET: November 2018

  • Check your post before posting. It is irresponsible to not check first before posting. Could possibly cause someone to miss this event.

Khon Kaen in the News / Re: Guesthouses threatened by gov closure

This explanation makes sense to me.

The budget must really be tight at the state department these days.
They not only cut down on the number of visits for the Outreach Program.
They are even cutting the number of hours in half.

 "Makes Sense"
Cut the number of visits so more people show up at this one. Then fool them and cut the hours in half.

Brilliant!

Open discussion / Re: Driver's License Renewal
« on: June 02, 2018, 06:55:05 AM »
Renewed my drivers license last week. It wasn't due for renewal until July, but they said I could do it early.  Went from my two year to my five year. My wife renewed hers also.
What I needed was 2 copies of my yellow book, two copies of my passport, my old license's. I had two. One for auto and one for motorcycle. Filled out a piece of paper with my signature and they did the rest.  Also, a medical certificate obtained at the local clinic. Never saw a doctor. Some girl working there took my blood pressure. It cost me 100 baht. "what a joke".
That's it.
No video, no eye test, no test of any kind.
Paid my money, waited to get my picture taken at another desk.
That was it. Maybe about 45 minutes at the most.

Now good for another 5 years.
